ROSWELL, GA Roswell residents and businesses may soon cash in on discounts for solar power, thanks to an agreement announced Oct. 22 by the City Council.
The council voted unanimously to partner with the Solarize Roswell Campaign which plans to make purchases of solar equipment in bulk, then pass the savings on to local patrons.
Roswell is already known as an eco-friendly city in part because of its robust recycling program, which includes glass recycling, said Environmental and Public Works Director Dan Skalsky.
The campaign, led by Solar Crowdsource, will help maintain and boost that reputation. It will inform citizens on how to solarize their homes and businesses in Roswell, ramp up adoption of solar energy throughout the city and educate people on the benefits of clean energy sources.
Through the initiative, the company will organize bulk purchases of renewable energy technologies to provide a discount. Those who participate will work closely with professional installers to determine what solutions work best for their house or business.
Because the campaign relies on bulk purchasing, more participation means greater savings.
