Final Month for Residents to Seek Group-Buying Savings on Solar Energy and Battery Storage
With a Dec. 31 deadline ahead to sign up for a free solar energy assessment, Solarize the Triangle has reached another lower-cost tier in its discount price offering to property owners in the Region.
The community-based group-buying program – developed by 11 local governments in the Triangle – has already enrolled 1,070 property owners seeking proposals for solar-energy systems.
To date, 546 kW of renewable solar power – more than half a megawatt – has been purchased through the program, which launched in August and has achieved 59 homeowner contracts to date.
Once these installations are completed, over 1 million per year in pounds of CO2 will have been avoided in the Region. This is the equivalent of 100 gasoline-powered passenger vehicles driven for one year.

Federal Tax Incentives, Financing Topics of Free Sept. 21 Virtual Workshop
Solarize Kansas City, the time-limited community-led program that makes solar energy and battery storage more affordable, is helping local property owners this month receive more information about renewable energy costs.
The campaign – based upon a unique community group-purchasing model – recently reached its eighth and final progressively lower-price tier since its launch earlier this year. In addition, the newly passed Inflation Reduction Act means that federal tax credits have increased to 30 percent in savings for newly installed solar energy systems and batteries.
Free Financing Workshop Set for Sept. 27 to Feature Update on Increased Federal Tax Credit; Solarize Open House Set for Sept. 24
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Solarize OKC campaign reached another new milestone – more than three-quarters of a megawatt of solar power installations under contract through the community group-buying program.
Since the campaign’s launch in May, more than 100 homeowners have completed contracts, which will result in new clean energy solar capacity of more than 850 in total kW of solar power. Once these systems are fully installed and operational, more than 1.47 million lbs. of carbon emissions will be avoided annually in Oklahoma City. This is the equivalent of 250 full size pickup trucks worth of greenhouse emissions taken out of the air.
