Unique Way for Gwinnett Property Owners to Go Solar via Group Buying Continues Apace
LAWRENCEVILLE — Solarize Gwinnett – a community-based group-purchasing program for solar energy, battery storage and other clean-energy technologies – has landed its first contract resulting from the campaign’s initial weeks.
The program led by a coalition of local community organizations is designed to help homeowners, businesses and nonprofits in Gwinnett become more resilient and reduce their energy expenses. Saving on the cost of renewable-energy systems by obtaining volume discounts on materials and installation services is the intent of the countywide initiative.
Home and business owners have a limited time to access the special prices made available through the campaign. Valuable federal tax credits are also available and can provide significant additional savings in 2023.
To make it simple for Gwinnett County residents to quickly learn more about the benefits of solar energy as well as the group purchasing concept, there are online resources available here. In addition, Solarize representatives will be available at two informational appearances next month at Slow Pour Brewing Co., 407 N. Clayton St., Lawrenceville. These will occur from 2-5 p.m. July 16 and July 30.

Free Evening Public Information Session Set for Oct. 18 Online
The regionwide community-based group-buying program known as Solarize the Triangle has rapidly reached its 3rd price tier based on early commitments from property owners in the Triangle region to purchase new renewable energy systems for their homes.
The Triangle Sustainability Partnership, a recently formed local government partnership of 11 communities, forged the program to enable residents and businesses to save on the ordinary cost of solar energy and battery power through combined purchasing with others across the Triangle plus the availability of a federal tax credit.

Free Signup Deadline is Oct. 31; Coalition Also Advances New Income-Qualified Program
Oct. 31 is the deadline for local residents and commercial building owners to enroll for a free evaluation under the Solarize Kansas City campaign, which offers group purchasing on solar energy and battery storage to all Kansas City-metro area residents and businesses.
Since May, more than 575 residents have enrolled for an evaluation to advance toward potentially owning a system through this community discount program.

Free Financing Workshop Set for Sept. 27 to Feature Update on Increased Federal Tax Credit; Solarize Open House Set for Sept. 24
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Solarize OKC campaign reached another new milestone – more than three-quarters of a megawatt of solar power installations under contract through the community group-buying program.
Since the campaign’s launch in May, more than 100 homeowners have completed contracts, which will result in new clean energy solar capacity of more than 850 in total kW of solar power. Once these systems are fully installed and operational, more than 1.47 million lbs. of carbon emissions will be avoided annually in Oklahoma City. This is the equivalent of 250 full size pickup trucks worth of greenhouse emissions taken out of the air.
