Solarize Gwinnett coalition donates solar array to help reduce energy costs and offer teaching opportunity

LAWRENCEVILLE– Solar energy is now being generated on the roof of Baggett Elementary thanks to a donation from the Solarize Gwinnett coalition and Better Tomorrow Solar. Solarize Gwinnett also helped to install solar on 20 homes around Gwinnett in 2023 and 2024.

“Solar on the school's roof is a win-win-win,” said Mitch Green, Baggett Elementary’s principal. “We will save money on our electric bills, help to protect the environment, and our students now have a hands-on opportunity to see a future powered by clean energy in action.”

Posted by: Ken Haldin

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASESept. 25, 2023

Unique way for Gwinnett Property Owners To Go Solar via Group Buying Continues

LAWRENCEVILLE — Solarize Gwinnett – a community-based group-purchasing program for solar energy, battery storage and other clean-energy technologies – is extending its deadline for local property owners to sign up for free.

Enrollment in Solarize Gwinnett is a no-obligation opportunity to determine if solar energy is right for your property. The new deadline for signing up is Nov. 30, 2023.

“Our Coalition has worked diligently to raise public awareness of Solarize Gwinnett over the past several months,” said Scott Presson, Clean Energy Volunteer with Sierra Club Georgia Chapter’s Greater Gwinnett Group. “Given the size and complexity of our county, we believe providing some extra time for local home and business owners to sign up for a free evaluation will increase participation even further in this effort to bring more solar power into our community. We hope you’ll join us in exploring the benefits of renewable energy before the campaign concludes Nov. 30.”

The program, led by a coalition of local community organizations, is designed to help homeowners, businesses and nonprofits in Gwinnett become more resilient and reduce their energy expenses. Saving on the cost of renewable-energy systems by obtaining volume discounts on materials and installation services is the intent of the countywide initiative.
